Meet Our Team
Amy
Amy joined the team February of 2022, and has been in her current role of Education Manager since early 2024. Before joining the team at Wayside, she was a public-school teacher for five years. Being an educator was always her dream, and now she has been able to combine two of her passions: teaching and animals! She has two wonderful rescue pups at home: Dany and Brody. Amy’s favorite thing about teaching the No More Bullying!® curriculum is witnessing students gain confidence in their abilities to make positive impactful change in their own communities!
Margaret
Margaret is all about teaching kids to be kind to animals and each other! She has spent time educating folks at cool spots like the Seattle Aquarium and Kansas City Zoo before joining the team here in July 2021. At home, she’s got two perfect rescue pups, Satchel Paige and Olympia, who she adopted from Wayside Waifs. The best part of her job? When she’s teaching No More Bullying!®, she gets to hear amazing stories from kids about how they take care of and show love to their pets!
Karen
Being a humane educator has been Karen’s dream job since she was a teenager. She has been living out that dream at Wayside Waifs since November 2017. Her favorite thing about No More Bullying!® is the relationship the students build with the animals, especially her beagle, who the students lovingly call “Linus McSquishy Pants”. Karen dreams of bringing rats and ferrets into the classroom someday to show students that they are so intelligent and affectionate! And to inspire students (and teachers!) to be open-minded, non-judgmental citizens of the world.
Nichole
Nichole has a background working with a variety of age groups, and she joined the Wayside team over 5 years ago! Nichole has one wonderful dog, Wilbur, who is a cuddly, fluffy, brainiac. They love learning new things together! Her favorite thing about teaching No More Bullying! is getting to help students learn and recognize dog body language, and seeing their observational skills grow throughout the course!
Alicia
Alicia joined the Wayside Waifs team April 2024 and loves teaching families all about animals! Over the years, she has taught families about farm animals at Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead, history at the National World War One Museum, and science at The Museum of Prairiefire- just to name a few. She has two dogs of her own: Dot and Biscuit. Biscuit is a Humane Education dog who loves to visit classrooms! The coolest part about her job is teaching kids empathy, pet safety, and how to take care of their pets!
